You guys
A day at the Gem
Fifteen thousand of you, and most of the good photographs in here are yours. This is one day, in order, from the queue to the last cup.
The queue
It starts before we open. On a good Saturday it runs past the corner of Summerlee Road, and none of it was ever advertised — you just told each other.

The regulars
The same faces, the same order, most days of the week. We know the cup before you reach the counter — and if it's your birthday, it's on us.

The rush
Bowls go out six at a time. The kitchen closes at three and the board changes most Fridays, so what you had last week might not be there — that is rather the point.

After the doors close
Four-and-a-half thousand ratings from you, and a tote that has apparently been to more places than we have.

Meet the owner
Gem
The café is named after her, and most days she is the one behind the counter — whisking the matcha, building the bowls, and remembering your order before you have finished saying it.
Hidden Gem was never advertised. It grew because people kept coming back and telling other people. The five-star hygiene rating she is holding here went up on the window the day it arrived.
A proper introduction in her own words to follow.

Every Friday
New drink drop
A new special goes on the board most Fridays. Blackberry matcha, banana bread latte, strawberry shortcake — they all started as a Friday.
Your birthday
It's on us
Tell us when you're in and we'll sort your drink. We like an excuse.
